Restoration FAQs
This is a very controversial topic within the restoration community. While whitening can be “fixed” in the loosest sense of the word, the practice of repairing whitening typically involves adding material or colour to the affected card.
The common consensus is that this is not currently an acceptable restoration technique, and is usually labelled as “Alteration” rather than
“Restoration”, with many Restorers actively refusing to offer or even attempt this work.
In the hands of a Restorer cards typically can be flattened to remove bends and curves with relative ease.
We recommend speaking directly with your chosen Restorer regarding your specific card’s restorability.
This is another very controversial topic within the restoration community. Commonly referred to as Rebacking, the practice of replacing only the back portion of a card while retaining the front, has been proven to be possible.
The common consensus is the same as fixing whitening which is that this is not currently an acceptable restoration technique, and is usually labelled
as “Alteration” rather than “Restoration”, with many Restorers actively refusing to offer or even attempt this work.
Typically a dent or multiple dents are “fixable” and can be flattened, providing the top layer of the card has not been pierced revealing the inside of
the card.
Piercing of the top layer can leave a permanent mark that is visible even after flattening.
We recommend speaking directly with your chosen Restorer regarding your specific card’s restorability.
Typically a crease is “fixable” and can be flattened, providing the top layer of the card has not been split revealing the inside of the card.
Splitting of the top layer can leave a permanent mark that is visible even after flattening.
It is worth noting that creases which are present on a holo section of a card can be harder to fix.
We recommend speaking directly with your chosen Restorer regarding your specific card’s restorability.
While restored cards can still be graded, it is not unheard of for a card to be returned ungraded by a grading company because of the presence of restoration. Each grading company and individual grader is different.
General FAQs
To be allowed on CardRestorers ALL vendors must agree to our Vendor Terms & Conditions.
Simply put, these terms require Vendors to operate in a lawful, professional manner and ensure the services they offer through our site are not misleading, or otherwise misrepresented in any way.
They also accept that breaking any of the conditions can lead to their immediate removal from the platform without notice.
If you would like to know all the requirements for Vendors then you can read our Vendor Terms & Conditions here.
Absolutely!
We are still growing by the day with more and more Vendors applying to join the platform!
Firstly, you will need to know what service you require, how much you would like to spend and how long you are prepared wait while your cards are restored.
From here, you will want to start by comparing different Restorers’ profiles, turnaround times, pricing, etc.
This will give you a solid picture of the service they offer as well as their ability to complete the service you are after.
Finally, you will decide on a Restorer who closely matches your criteria before reaching out to them directly to discuss the work.
As CardRestorers is designed to connect Restorers and Collectors together, it allows Restorers to maintain their own pricing structures and has
no influence over these.
Therefore, the price of restoration can vary from Vendor to Vendor, however, throughout the site there is an option for every budget.
We recommend speaking directly with Restorers regarding their pricing.
You are able to contact Restorers either through the “Reply To Listing” button on their service listing, or from their own Vendor profile by clicking
the “Send Message” button.
You will need to register for a free account in order to use the direct message feature.
CardRestorers does not handle any payments for Vendors, and all transactions are processed directly with your chosen Restorer using their available payment methods.
We recommend speaking directly with Restorers regarding payment of services.
You will discuss this directly with the Restorer in question and work together resolve the matter. However, if you do have serious concerns regarding
a Vendor then please reach out to us at hello@cardrestorers.com and we will look into this accordingly.
Of course! We would love to hear from you directly via email at Hello@CardRestorers.com or through social media!
